Our Story

Rooted in DC. Built for Every Child.

"I've spent years working with students, and I can tell you the moment I fell in love with this work. It wasn't in a classroom. It was watching a student who struggled to sit still during a test come alive the second she picked up a paintbrush. It was watching a quiet, shy boy find his voice, literally find his voice, the day he joined a step team. Working with students like them changed me. It showed me that every single student is carrying a spark, just waiting to be turned up. Sometimes the classroom isn't where it finds its volume."

Rooted in DC

After 3 Amplified was founded right here in Washington, DC, out of a simple but urgent belief: the hours after the school bell rings are just as important as the hours before it. For too many students in Title I schools, those hours are spent without access to the sports, arts, music, and enrichment opportunities that build confidence, community, and skills that last a lifetime.

The Gap We Saw

Across Washington, DC, extracurricular access is too often determined by zip code and income rather than a student's curiosity or talent. Students in Title I schools frequently have fewer opportunities to explore sports, arts, music, and academic enrichment outside the traditional school day, not because they lack interest, but because they lack access. But access wasn't the only gap. In a lot of the programs we saw, sponsors did most of the heavy lifting. Students showed up, but they weren't given the room to lead, to organize, or to shape the programs around their own passions. Their voice and autonomy were often an afterthought. After 3 Amplified was created to close both of those gaps, giving students real access and real ownership, one program, one school, and one child at a time.

More Than Access

A lot of programs stop at access. They hand a student an opportunity and call it done. We don't stop there. From the beginning, A3A was built around a different idea: students aren't just the ones showing up; they're the ones leading. We train and mentor students to organize their own clubs, run their own programs, and shape their passions in a way that's true to them.
